The workers, sent through the government-run overseas employment agency (POEA), included 100 newly recruited manufacturing workers who arrived at Incheon International Airport on May 6 aboard Korean Air flight KE492.

In addition, seven workers — comprising four male service-sector workers, one female service-sector worker, and two agricultural workers — arrived on May 12 via Singapore Airlines flight SQ608.

A further 112 workers, including 101 manufacturing workers and 11 construction workers, arrived on May 13 on Korean Air flight KE492.

Officials from the Myanmar Embassy in Seoul, including the labor attaché, welcomed the workers upon arrival and provided guidance on important matters they should be aware of while working in South Korea. Necessary assistance and support were also provided.

Myanmar’s Charge d’Affaires and Ambassador U Myo Myint Maung also greeted the newly arrived workers through a video call, encouraging them to contact the embassy at any time if they encounter difficulties.

The ambassador  also urged officials from Human Resources Development Service of Korea to close coordination on matters related to Myanmar workers and emphasizing continued communication with the Myanmar Embassy whenever necessary.
