Authorities have reportedly demolished three additional illegal residential buildings in the Shwe Kokko area in Kayin State that were allegedly used for online scam and gambling operations.

According to reports, a joint task force comprising security personnel, administrative bodies, and local officials has been conducting clearance operations in the Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas, where online scam and gambling activities had been based.

The operations include preventing the continued use of illegal buildings for scam activities, destroying confiscated materials used in online fraud operations, and permanently demolishing illegal structures to prevent them from being reused.

As part of the ongoing crackdown, authorities identified a total of 77 buildings in the Shwe Kokko area that had allegedly been used for online scam and gambling businesses. Of these, 57 buildings were designated for demolition using heavy machinery, while 20 buildings were marked for destruction by controlled explosives.

On May 27, three four-story residential buildings among the 57 designated for mechanical demolition were systematically torn down using vehicles and machinery. This brings the total number of demolished buildings to nine, while 68 illegal structures remain slated for destruction. Authorities said demolition operations will continue.

The government also stated that it will continue coordinating with domestic organizations as well as neighboring countries to ensure that online scam and gambling operations cannot establish a base within Myanmar.
