Three Chinese nationals arrested in Shan State over alleged online gambling scam operations
· Eleven Media Group Co., LtdAuthorities have arrested three Chinese nationals allegedly involved in illegal online gambling and scam operations in Mongpan Township, southern Shan State, according to official reports.
Security joint task forces have been conducting area clearance operations and investigations to prevent online scam and gambling syndicates from operating or establishing bases in the region.
During operations carried out on the evening of May 6, authorities arrested two Chinese men suspected of involvement in illegal online gambling activities at a location approximately 13,700 meters northeast of Mongpan.
In a separate operation on the evening of May 7, security forces reportedly arrested another Chinese national suspected of participating in online scam and gambling activities at a site about 12,300 meters north of Mongpan.
Officials said the foreign nationals involved in the alleged online scam and gambling operations are currently undergoing further investigation. Authorities stated that effective legal action would be taken against them in accordance with existing laws after the investigation process is completed.
The government also said it is continuing to cooperate with neighboring countries, regional partners, and international organizations to combat online scam and illegal gambling operations and to prevent such syndicates from establishing bases inside Myanmar.
