Britney Spears Arrested for DUI

Britney Spears was arrested on the evening of March 4 in Ventura County, California, for a DUI. The circumstances of Spears’s arrest are relatively unknown, though the pop star and actress was released on the morning of March 5. Her team has not yet responded to a request for comment.

Given Spears’s history of substance use and mental-health issues, it’s dismaying to hear that she has once again run afoul of the law and put herself in danger. Part of what she sought when she wanted to end her conservatorship back in 2021 was freedom to live her life how she pleased, but perhaps she could be free in a way that also allows her to have a chauffeur or some kind of Uber discount code to prevent otherwise avoidable tragedies. Or maybe there’s the horse she said she was going to buy?
