Kiefer Sutherland Arrested for Assault

Kiefer Sutherland was arrested for assault on January 12 after allegedly physically attacking a rideshare driver. KTLA reports that Sutherland entered a car and began making criminal threats against the driver while physically assaulting them. Sutherland was arrested on the scene, near the corner of Sunset and Fairfax. “The victim did not sustain any injuries requiring medical treatment at the scene,” police said. Sutherland was released on a $50,000 bond, and a court hearing is scheduled for February 2.

This is not the first time Jack Bauer has run afoul of the law. But it’s the first time it has happened in more than a decade, per USA Today. In 2007, Sutherland was sentenced to two months in jail for a DUI, the last in a string of DUIs that go back to 1989. In 2009, he was accused of headbutting Proenza Schouler designer Jack McCollough, but charges were dismissed. In 2005 or 2006, the actor was recorded tackling a Christmas tree in the lobby of a London hotel. “That [tree] specifically was a fire hazard.” Sutherland later joked to Jonathan Ross. “So I just wanted to clear that up.”
