Harvey Weinstein Sentenced to 15 Years for a Felony Sex Crime in New York

On September 23, Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 15 years in prison for a felony sex crime in the State of New York, thus ending the saga of his East Coast trials. The 74-year-old onetime industry mogul was first convicted of sex crimes back in 2020, following an explosive New York Times report detailing multiple assaults back in 2017. But in 2024, Weinstein’s initial verdict was overturned after his lawyers argued he was deprived of a fair trial. In 2025, he was convicted on one of three sex-crime charges after appealing his 2020 case (with the others ending in various mistrials), resulting in the September 23 sentencing. He is still facing a resentencing in California in a separate case. In a statement to Judge Curtis Farber, Weinstein said he had “remorse” for accuser Miriam Haley’s “pain” but also had to “reiterate” his own “innocence.”
