Michael Douglas Says Jack Nicholson’s ‘Disappeared’ From the Spotlight
by Alejandra Gularte · VULTUREMichael Douglas gives an important update on his good friend Jack Nicholson. At an event in Swansea to promote his new memoir, One Helluva Ride, he says he regrets never having acted alongside Nicholson; Douglas produced Nicholson’s Best Acting win for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. “I would have liked to have acted with Jack,” Douglas said, per The Independent. “He’s not working any more. He’s well. He has disappeared. I know that.” Nicholson has taken a break from the spotlight, with his last movie coming out in 2010. Since then, he’s made limited public appearances, besides the SNL 50 and the occasional Lakers game. Thankfully, he still makes time to hang out with Douglas, even if it’s a little different. “I still see him, but he is fine. He is up there by his house and walking around in his slippers,” Douglas said of their friendship now. “It happens. He deserves it. I understand. He is a few years older than me, but I understand.”
Douglas has praised Nicholson’s performance as Randle McMurphy, telling The Guardian in 2017: “Jack encouraged everyone to bring their A-game.”
