Conan O’Brien Will Host the 2025 Academy Awards
by Jason P. Frank · VULTUREHell hath frozen over, pigs have grown wings and are now soaring the air, and the sky? Well, honey, it’s falling — the Academy chose a great host. That’s not supposed to happen! The 2025 Oscars ceremony will be hosted by national treasure and tallest man in Hollywood, Conan O’Brien. Did Jay Leno ever get to do that? We don’t think so! “[O’Brien] is the perfect person to help lead our global celebration of film with his brilliant humor, his love of movies, and his live-TV expertise,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Janet Yang said in a statement. “His remarkable ability to connect with audiences will bring viewers together to do what the Oscars do best — honor the spectacular films and filmmakers of this year.” The Academy released a video of O’Brien, meanwhile, getting teased with receiving an Oscar himself, which he sadly will not receive for hosting. They should change that. Give Conan an Oscar!
The 97th Oscars will be held on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theater at 4 p.m. PST, and broadcast on ABC, and presumably also on the Disney-owned streamers, Disney+ and Hulu. Now that O’Brien is our official host, we gotta ask: Will his assistant Sona Movsesian be there? Will she get to go onstage? What happens with Sona Movsesian in all this?
