Selma Blair Arrested for Assaulting Flight Attendants
by Alejandra Gularte · VULTUREActress Selma Blair was arrested on Sunday, October 12, for assaulting flight attendants and trying to open the emergency door mid-flight, TMZ reports. She allegedly punched a Delta flight attendant and bit another when they tried to stop her from opening the door. Both flight attendants sustained injuries from the attack, with one going to the hospital for their injuries. She was arrested at the gate when the flight landed at its destination, and Blair was taken to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation in an ambulance. TMZ shared that Blair allegedly kicked a Port Authority police officer and assaulted a nurse at the hospital; the nurse is pressing charges.
“Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct,” a spokesperson for Blair told Variety. “Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.” A decade ago, Blair was removed from a flight on a stretcher after an outburst on the plane. She said her breakdown was a result of mixing alcohol with an unnamed pill, which caused her paranoia. She apologized at the time: “I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.”
