Office for Kosovo and Metohija reacts to arrests in Zubin Potok: Kurti continues with intimidation of Serbs

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced that last night five Serbs were detained in Zubin Potok for alleged war crimes, two of whom have been held in jail, emphasizing that the regime of Albin Kurti continues with the policy of terror and retaliation against Serbs as well as with intimidation, both through violent actions and arbitrary arrests of people who have been peacefully living in their homes for many years.

Representatives of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija are on the ground, and in touch with the families of those arrested.

"Members of Kurti's Kosovo police carried out another oppressive operation in the municipality of Zubin Potok yesterday, by detaining five Serbs from this municipality and questioning them in Pristina. This lasted until late at night, and after that three men from the village of Crepulja were released, while the other two Serbs - M.J. from the village of Donji Jasenovik and M.B. from the village of Kaludra - remain in custody, for alleged war crimes. Our representatives on the ground are in contact with their families," the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said in a statement.

According to the Office, this is another move by the Pristina regime meant to exert pressure on the Serbs in the municipality of Zubin Potok, which followed the unlawful and illegal demolition of Serb-owned weekend homes close to Lake Gazivode.

The Office points out that such unfounded actions are adding to unsettling the Serb communities and create a sense of insecurity and fear among the Serb people.

"That is the goal of the regime in Pristina, which has no political legitimacy and is trying to entrench its position by oppressing the Serb people," the statement said.

Members of the so-called Kosovo police arrested (and held in custody) two people in Zubin Potok on suspicion of having allegedly committed a war crime againstcivilians during the 1999 conflict in Kosovo and Metohija.

The so-called the Kosovo police announced that they are suspected of participating in "the murder of 23 civilians in the Zubin Potok area, in April 1999."
