Former Irish boxer Paddy Barnes has questioned the actions of Anthony Joshua's corner as the Londoner suffered a devastating fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night.

Joshua was the heavy favourite heading into the heavyweight contest after four consecutive victories suggested he had recovered from losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

But Joshua's old frailties resurfaced, and he quickly became an easy target for a dominant Dubois, who knocked his opponent down four times in the fight.

The bout was stopped when Joshua was unable to beat the count after Dubios knocked him down with a right hand in the fifth round.

But two-time Olympic medallist Barnes believes that Joshua's corner team should have took matters into their own hands.

Barnes said on social media: "Jousha's corner is terrible, towel should be in."

Dubois proved many of his doubters wrong, including Barnes' old Irish teammate Michael Conlan.

The Belfast man said: "Wow that was an amazing fight!!! Couldn’t be happier for Dubois proved so much people wrong, me included!

"What a win, what a performance. Heavyweight boxing is pure entertainment. Wow amazing!"

Joshua, speaking to DAZN after the fight, said: "We came up short as a team.

"You know I'm ready to kick off in the ring but I'm going to keep it respectful.

"Before I came here, I always say to myself I'm a fighter for life. You keep rolling the dice. I had a fast and sharp opponent, a lot of mistakes from my end."
