The first film in the franchise, Awarapan, released in 2007 and was a box-office failure. However, the Mohit Suri directorial, which also starred Emraan Hashmi, went on to gain cult status over the years. Awarapan 2, however, has become a historic film for Emraan Hashmi as this is now the first solo film in his 18 year career that has entered the Rs 100 cr club.

Along with Emraan Hashmi, Awarapan 2 also stars Disha Patani, Puran Gabbi, Aniruddh Rawal, Shabana Azmi, Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar in key roles. The film has been directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt under the banner of Vishesh Films.

Reddit user _Beyond4584 posted, "If you’re fan of Emraan Hashmi then this movie was 10/10 but if you’re watching this movie logically Then it’s something 5/10 cause , hero itna weak q dikhaya h ? I mean he was getting caught by villain every second time , and there was not any huge plot twist in the movie , it’s more like someone playing chor police and police was always getting caught by chor , he does not have any strategies, going with the flow through out the script! Well good for one time watcher."

'Awarapan 2 will continue to become bigger and bigger'

A fan @Yuviamaalian, "Awarapan 2 becomes the biggest of Emraan Sir’s career and his first 100cr+ solo theatrical hit. This is not only the comeback of Emraan Hashmi the Actor but Emraan Hashmi The Father. Before Awarapan 2, there was a fight no father should ever have to face. In 2014, his 3 year old son Ayan was diagnosed with cancer. Overnight, film sets were replaced by hospital corridors, and every single day became a fight for hope. For the next five years, he stood beside his son through hospital visits, surgeries, treatments, fear, and endless hope. And finally, in 2019, Ayan was declared cancer-free and became a cancer survivor. With Awarapan 2, we have just witnessed the comeback of a father who never gave up. But honestly, his biggest comeback wasn't on screen with Awarapan 2. His biggest victory was seeing his son being declared completely cancer-free. Love you @emraanhashmi sir There is truly no one like you pls come with more banger films like this. And waiting and hoping we would see another colloboration of Amaal Mallik with you. . And the Awarapan 2 will continue to become bigger and bigger and we are seated to witness this."

'Awarapan 2: A sequel nobody asked for'

Reddit user ronig_abc0819 shared, "Awarapan 2: A sequel nobody asked for? Awarapan was one of my favourite romance dramas when it released. It had emotion, a memorable story, soulful music and, most importantly, a satisfying ending. But Awarapan 2 feels like a sequel that was made because the makers didn't want to leave a finished story alone. Bringing Shivam back feels forced, and the story becomes repetitive, predictable and unnecessarily glamorous. Even the background score feels mediocre, except for 'Tera Mera Rishta Purana 2.0.' I honestly don't understand why filmmakers today keep trying to revive movies that already had a good ending. A few months ago, we got Haunted 2, and now Awarapan 2—both feel like attempts to cash in on nostalgia rather than tell a story that genuinely needed another chapter. Sometimes, if a film ends on a good note, just leave it there. Not every beloved movie needs a sequel. Awarapan deserved to remain a beautiful memory."
