The Hindi version of Ramayana recorded an overall occupancy of 33.96% for its 3D shows on Day 1, compared to 27.79% for the 2D format. The modest occupancy figures could be attributed to Thursday being a working day. However, footfalls and box office collections are expected to pick up over the coming days as the Diwali holidays begin.

Ramayana has done better than Shah Rukkh Khan’s Pathaan (Rs 57 crore), Animal ( Rs 63 crore), but failed to beat Jawan (Rs 75 crore) and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 (Rs 102 crore). It has failed to eclipse Prabhas-starrer Adipurush, a much criticised Ramayana adaptation.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana starring Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi Yash, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Arun Govil, Ravie Dubey, Lara Dutta and Sunny Deol, among others, has reportedly been released across more than 50,000 screens in 100 countries. Sony Pictures is handling its international distribution.

The film, planned as a two-part saga, has been made on a combined budget of Rs 4,000 crore, with the second instalment scheduled to release in 2028.

Ramayana Part 1 leaked online?

Ramayana: Part 1 has reportedly surfaced in a pirated version online, with X user @_mrchaturvedi raising concerns about the ease of accessing illegal copies of the film. Sharing his experience on X, he wrote, "Was coming back from Phoenix Market City this evening, and the auto guy was watching Ramayana on mobile and the quality was decent, not even bad. I think we need strict anti-piracy laws in our country. This feels like a disease we need a cure for." Ahead of its theatrical release on November 5, 2026, Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, received interim protection against piracy from the Bombay High Court. The court restrained unidentified individuals and digital platforms from recording, uploading or streaming the film without authorisation. Trade analyst calls Ramayana's opening box office ‘absolutely dismal’, compares it to Toxic

Trade analyst Sumit Kadel has criticised Ramayana's opening, pointing out that its Hindi collection was lower than Yash-starrer Toxic, which earned about Rs 50 crore despite having an average ticket price (ATP) 40–50% lower than Ramayana. According to Sumit, had Ramayana recorded an ATP similar to Drishyam 3 and Toxic, its opening-day footfalls would have translated into Rs 35–38 crore net. Calling the opening “absolutely dismal”, he questioned the film's performance despite its higher ticket prices.
