Delhi News Live Updates: The Aam Aadmi Party has moved Supreme Court against the recently held election for the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The AAP had accused BJP of ‘murdering democracy’ by “staging an illegal and unconstitutional election” for the sixth member of the civic body. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi sought to underline that “only the Mayor has the authority to set the date and venue for these elections”, and bypassing this process is not just a breach of rules but an attack on the democratic fabric of the MCD.

Constable mowed down by car: A Delhi Police constable died after being hit and dragged by a car for 10 m in West Delhi in an alleged case of road rage late on Saturday night, police said. A 2018-batch constable, Sandeep, 30, was patrolling in the area in plainclothes on a motorcycle after reports of an increase in burglaries were received, the police said.

Weather forecast: The India Meteorological Department has forecast partly cloudy sky today. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 and 25 degree Celsius respectively.

Delhi News Live Updates: All ministers will inspect roads in one week, says Atishi

After meeting Delhi Ministers at secretariat, Atishi in a press conference, said that inspection of roads will be done in a week.

"In the last two days, Kejriwal ji and I went to different parts of the city to inspect the conditions of road. We found that several stretches in the city are broken and are not in good shape. Kejriwal ji also wrote me a letter and urged me to repair all the broken and potholed roads," Atishi said.

"We held a meeting today with all the ministers and senior PWD officials and discussed about the 1400 km long stretches under PWD. It has been decided that all the ministers will conduct an inspection of roads in the next one week," she added.

"I will go south and south east, Saurabh will visit east....during the inspection, Local MLAs and officers will also be there with the ministers. After the inspection, PWD will start repairing work around Diwali, " Atishi said.

Delhi Police constable mowed down by car after he asks driver to slow down

A Delhi Police constable died after being hit and dragged by a car for 10 m in West Delhi in an alleged case of road rage late on Saturday night, police said.

A 2018-batch constable, Sandeep, 30, was patrolling in the area in plainclothes on a motorcycle after reports of an increase in burglaries were received, the police said.

“He saw that a WagonR car was being driven recklessly and he asked the driver to not drive rashly. Suddenly, the car sped up and hit constable Sandeep from behind, dragging him for about 10 m before eventually hitting another vehicle,” said Jimmy Chiram, DCP Outer Delhi. Read more
