Maharashtra Government Formation Live News Updates: It’s been five days since the Maharashtra Assembly election results are out and all eyes are on who secures the Chief Minister’s post. As such, outgoing chief minister Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, who is being projected as the next CM, and Ajit Pawar will be meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah to iron out all differences and discuss the matter. On Wednesday, Shinde announced that his Shiv Sena faction will accept any decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah and there will be no obstacle from his side.

Meanwhile, in the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi camp, there are rumblings over Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders leaving the alliance. After Mahayuti’s massive sweep gaining 230 out of 288 seats, the grassrot cadre of Sena (UBT) is criticising the “effectiveness” of the MVA. Sources said, Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, party leaders Aaditya Thackeray and Sanjay Raut are keen on maintaining the alliance to “present a united opposition against the BJP”.

Apart from that there are merely two more days to go for the swearing-in ceremony of the new CM. Along with CM and Deputy CMs, 20 MLAs will take oath as Cabinet Ministers, sources said. Regarding seat-sharing, 10 BJP MLAs will secure cabinet berths while six Shinde Sena MLAs and four NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) MLAs will take oath as Ministers.

Together, the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP won 40 of the 46 seats in this bastion of the Maratha community, with the BJP alone winning 19. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which was believed to enjoy Maratha support, won only five seats in all.
