Welbeck to Chelsea nears completion after contract agreement

Brighton striker Danny Welbeck is set to undergo his medical with Chelsea ahead of a possible summer move.

Welbeck has already agreed personal terms with the Blues on a two-year contract.

The former Manchester United and Arsenal forward is expected to complete his move to Stamford Bridge in the coming days.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has approved the move as he looks to bring more experience into his squad.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal on X, writing: “Danny Welbeck to Chelsea, here we go! Deal in place with Brighton for the English striker.

“Welbeck agreed terms with Chelsea until 2028, medical next; Brighton approved decision to let him go after formal request from Danny.”
