Police arrest and interdict officer over death of law student Ivan Baidoo

Police have arrested and interdicted General Corporal Robert Koranteng over the death of 23-year-old Ivan Baidoo on the Tema Motorway on August 27, 2026.

The officer was identified after initial investigations into a viral video linked to the incident. He is currently in police custody and is assisting with investigations.

The Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is investigating the circumstances surrounding Baidoo’s death, while the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has been tasked with examining the conduct of the officer.

The Police Service said appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigations.
