NDC’s Parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central disqualified from contesting 2024 elections

The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has disqualified the Amenfi Central Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Joana Gyan from contesting for the 2024 elections.

This follows a suit challenging her candidacy, which has since not been resolved by the court.

A statement from the Commission said they are bound by the tenets of the constitution and since there is an injunction on her candidacy by a court of competent jurisdiction, there is no way she can be allowed to contest.

Early on, MyNewsGh.com reported that the Amenfi Central incumbent Member of Parliament, Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah, complained bitterly about the treatment meted to him by his political party.

To him, the party wasn’t fair when they threw their weight behind Joana Gyan who had forged documents to contest for the seat.
