Police rescue kidnapped man covered in blood, arrest four suspects
by Miss Naa · MyNewsGh.comPolice rescued 30-year-old Bismarck Amo after he was allegedly kidnapped, tortured and held for extortion, with four suspects arrested in an intelligence-led operation.
The operation, code-named “Operation Rescue the Victim and Arrest the Perpetrators”, was coordinated by Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohonu and involved personnel from the Central North Regional Police Command, CID Headquarters, the Ashanti Regional Police Intelligence Department and other specialised units.
Police said Amo was found partially unconscious, drenched in blood and covered in severe bruises from head to toe. He was immediately taken to a medical facility, where he remains admitted under police escort and is receiving treatment for his physical and psychological injuries.
The four suspects arrested are 42-year-old Mavis Badu Acheampong, a teacher at Kumasi Girls Senior High School; 53-year-old Charles Doku, a security guard; 31-year-old electrician Oteng Baffour; and Kenneth Opoku Kwarteng, also known as Culture, whose age was not immediately confirmed. The four are residents of Breman UGC.
Police said the suspects remain in custody and are being processed for court.
The Police Service is also pursuing a senior military officer allegedly involved in the operation, as well as other accomplices who remain at large.
The Police Administration warned that taking the law into one’s own hands, regardless of the circumstances, is a serious crime and said it would continue to pursue individuals involved in organised criminal activities.
