One person has been hospitalised after crashing their motorcycle while allegedly fleeing Auckland police.

Police said officers saw a rider allegedly speeding and "undertaking dangerous manoeuvres" on Highbrook Drive in East Tamaki, about 12:20pm Sunday.

Police said they attempted to signal the rider to stop, who was moments later involved in a crash with a member of the public.

The rider suffered serious injuries and has been transported to hospital, police said.

The road is closed, and the Serious Crash Unit is in attendance.
