Man charged with muder after death in Dunedin

A man has been charged with murder after a person's death in Dunedin.

Detective Inspector Shona Low said at the time emergency services were called to a Somerville St home in Andersons Bay just before 6pm on Friday.

"Upon arrival a person was located deceased. One person was taken into custody at the scene."

On Saturday morning, Detective Inspector Shona Low said that person had been charged with murder.

The 37-year-old was due to appear in the Dunedin District Court on Saturday.

Police said they were not seeking anyone else.

A scene examination would take place on Saturday, with cordons still in place.
