· Otago Daily Times Online NewsA driver was left with that sinking feeling in South Dunedin early this morning when their ute become lodged in a hole apparently created by a burst water main.
Emergency services were called to Bayview Rd, near the Andersons Bay Rd roundabout at 4.30am.
The vehicle had got stuck in the hole and had to be towed out by fire crews, after which a powerful jet of water was shooting from the main and covering the road surface.
Police said there were no injuries, and the Dunedin City Council had been called to assess the road.
On its website, the council said water had been shut off to some properties on Bayview Rd, and gave an estimated time of 10am for it to be restored.
