Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent testifies before the House Ways and Means Committee on Thursday, June 4.

Bessent will testify following a report Wednesday that private-sector payrolls rose by 122,000 in May, more jobs added than expected.

Consumer data released Wednesday was also positive, “with orders for consumer durable goods running 8.5 percent above last year’s pace and motor vehicle demand surging.”
