NMIXX climbs charts with heartfelt comeback album ‘Heavy Serenade’

NMIXX has officially returned with a new album filled with themes of love and gratitude.

The group released its fifth mini album 'Heavy Serenade' on May 11 at 6 p.m. KST through major music platforms.

The title track quickly demonstrated strong momentum on the charts. As of 7 p.m. on release day, the song entered Melon’s Top 100 chart at No. 60 before soaring to No. 16 by midnight, climbing more than 40 spots within just five hours.

Ahead of the album release, NMIXX held a countdown live broadcast through the group’s official YouTube channel beginning at 4:40 p.m., where the members introduced the new album as “a project filled with songs and colors that perfectly suit the season.”

The broadcast featured album unboxing segments, track previews, and discussions about the stories behind each song.

BAE, who participated in writing Different Girl, shared that she expressed her feelings toward fans by writing lyrics about “someone who lights up even my darkness like the universe.”

Meanwhile, Lily explained that she wrote "LOUD" herself after drawing inspiration from classic love stories such as 'Romeo and Juliet'.

During the live broadcast, the members also read touching messages left by fans through a promotional website, including comments like, “Every voice from NMIXX is a serenade,” and “Thank you for teaching us what love is.”

The members responded emotionally, saying they had prepared the album as a serenade for their fandom, NSWER, but felt as though fans had instead sent a serenade back to them.

The livestream additionally included heartfelt letter-reading segments. Lily addressed her younger sibling, Kyujin wrote a letter to herself ahead of her birthday, and Sullyoon shared a message for her friends, while other members expressed gratitude toward those who always support them.

The mini album contains six tracks including the title song "Heavy Serenade", "Crescendo", "IDESERVEIT", “Different Girl,” "Superior", and “LOUD.”

The title track’s lyrics were written by singer-songwriter Hanroro and tell a story of confident, deep love enhanced by the members’ emotional vocals.

The album has already received praise from listeners, with many describing all six tracks as standout songs. It also topped real-time retail album charts on Circle Chart and Hanteo Chart, while reaching No. 1 on iTunes Top Albums charts in regions including Hong Kong, Thailand, and Vietnam.
