Earlier this week on April 27 JST, Lapone Entertainment, the management company of JO1, announced Ohira Shosei's decision to leave the group.

The announcement read,

"Thank you very much for your warm support for JO1.
We would like to inform you that Ohira Shosei's exclusive management contract with LAPONE Entertainment Co., Ltd. will expire on May 31, 2026, and he will cease activities as a member of JO1.
During the hiatus, he expressed his intention to end the contract, and we have come to this conclusion following our repeated discussions.
We sincerely apologize to all our fans, who have always shown their warm support, for this sudden announcement. We appreciate your understanding.
We sincerely hope for your continued support in the future."

Back in October of 2025, a 'Shukan Bunshun' report accused Ohira Shosei of two-timing. The report claimed that Ohira Shosei was simultaneously dating a non-celebrity girlfriend and label mate Iida Shizuku of ME:I.

As a result of the scandal, both Ohira Shosei and Iida Shizuku went on a hiatus from activities. In December of 2025, Iida Shizuku ended her exclusive contract with Lapone Entertainment and left ME:I.

Now, along with Lapone Entertainment's official announcement, Ohira Shosei stated, "I am deeply reflecting on the harm that I caused due to my inadequacy. I sincerely apologize to the fans who supported me all this time. I will walk a new path from now on, but I will live while always cherishing my experiences from my team activities."

Ohira Shosei debuted as a member of JO1 on December 11, 2019, after being chosen through the CJ ENM idol audition program 'Produce 101 Japan'.
