tvN’s highly anticipated drama sequel “The Second Signal” has been reported to be targeting a November release, with a Monday–Tuesday slot under consideration, according to a June 30 report by MyDaily.

The report also claimed that actor Cho Jin Woong appears in the final cut without any editing changes, drawing attention amid ongoing discussions surrounding the production. The series is said to consist of eight episodes, with its finale tentatively scheduled for December 22.

However, tvN has clarified the situation, stating, “Nothing has been finalized,” emphasizing that the broadcast schedule and related details remain under review.

“The Second Signal” is the long-awaited sequel to the hit 2016 drama “Signal,” which gained critical acclaim for its unique crime narrative involving detectives communicating across time via a mysterious two-way radio to solve cold cases. The original series concluded with a peak nationwide rating of 13.4% (Nielsen Korea).

The sequel was initially planned as part of tvN’s 20th anniversary lineup but was postponed indefinitely after filming had already been completed in August of last year. The delay followed renewed controversy surrounding one of the lead actors, Cho Jin Woong, after past juvenile records resurfaced in media reports.

Despite the uncertainty, “The Second Signal” remains one of tvN’s most anticipated projects, reuniting writer Kim Eun Hee and director Ahn Tae Jin, alongside returning cast members Lee Je Hoon, Kim Hye Soo, and Cho Jin Woong. However, tvN maintains that no official decisions regarding the release schedule have been confirmed.
