Actor Jo Jung Suk has once again addressed a recurring misunderstanding surrounding his marriage to singer Gummy, clarifying that the couple never held a formal wedding ceremony.

On May 22, a preview video was released on singer and actress Hyeri’s YouTube channel featuring Jo Jung Suk as a guest. In the clip, the two expressed warmth about reuniting on screen for the first time in about nine years since the 2017 MBC drama Two Cops. Jo Jung Suk remarked that Hyeri feels like a “younger sister,” highlighting their close relationship.

During the conversation, Jo Jung Suk pointed out a misunderstanding that has persisted for years. “Many people assume we held a wedding ceremony, but we didn’t,” he said, adding that even acquaintances have asked why they were not invited to the wedding.

In reality, Jo Jung Suk and Gummy registered their marriage in 2018 through a private commitment ceremony rather than a traditional wedding. Gummy has previously addressed the same misconception multiple times. In a 2024 appearance on Big Bang member Daesung’s YouTube channel, she noted that many people still believe the couple had a formal wedding, adding that deciding who to invite would have been complicated. Daesung also admitted at the time that he was unaware no wedding ceremony had taken place.

Gummy revisited the topic again on singer K.Will’s YouTube channel last year, saying that some people were even disappointed after learning the truth, having assumed they had attended a wedding.

Meanwhile, Jo Jung Suk also shared a lighthearted update about his family following the recent birth of their second daughter. He joked that both children resemble him more than Gummy, saying, “We now have three Jo Jung Suks and one Gummy in our household,” drawing laughter.

Jo Jung Suk and Gummy officially married in 2018 and have two daughters, born in 2020 and earlier this year.
