BLACKPINK’s Jennie earns estimated 23 billion KRW (17 million USD) through self-founded agency
by Alec06 · allkpopJennie has reportedly received more than 23.8 billion won (approximately 17 million USD) in settlement payments through the entertainment company she founded herself.
According to filings disclosed through South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service electronic disclosure system on May 9, OA Entertainment paid Jennie approximately 9.5 billion won (approximately 6.8 million USD) in settlements last year. Combined with the 14.3 billion won (approximately 10.2 million USD) reportedly paid in 2024, the total amount over two years reached around 23.8 billion won (approximately 17 million USD).
Jennie established OA Entertainment in November 2023 as a one-person agency dedicated to her solo activities. “OA” stands for “Odd Atelier,” symbolizing a creative space focused on producing unique and attention-grabbing ideas.
The company is reportedly fully owned by Jennie, while her mother, Park Nana, serves as CEO.
Thanks to Jennie’s active schedule involving performances, advertisements, and appearance fees, OA Entertainment quickly achieved profitability after its launch. In what was effectively considered its first operational year, the company posted revenue of 18.9 billion won (approximately 13.5 million USD) and operating profit of 580 million won (approximately 415,000 USD).
Last year, revenue reportedly increased 26 percent year-over-year to 23.8 billion won (approximately 17 million USD), while operating profit decreased 33 percent to 390 million won (approximately 279,000 USD).
The filings also showed that Jennie personally supported company operations financially. OA Entertainment’s shareholder loans reportedly rose to 2.86 billion won (approximately 2 million USD), more than eight times higher than the previous year.
Industry observers interpreted the increase as operating support intended to bridge cash flow timing gaps related to company expenses and settlement payments.
Jennie is not the only artist to pursue this business model. Psy’s company P NATION reportedly paid the singer around 17 billion won (approximately 12.1 million USD) in settlements last year, largely fueled by the success of his “Summer Swag” concerts.
Similarly, former TVXQ member Kim Jae Joong established iNKODE Entertainment in 2023 and has since expanded into both personal activities and rookie artist management.
An entertainment industry insider explained that while agencies traditionally handled investment and risk in exchange for profit-sharing, more top-tier artists with established fandoms are now creating independent corporations because the structure offers far more favorable revenue distribution.
