Jisoo controversy takes turn as designer explains viral accusation

Jisoo became the center of controversy after a fashion designer who publicly accused her of “stealing” his belongings later clarified the situation.

Benjamin Bortmans, the designer behind Antwerp-based fashion brand JUDASSIME, uploaded a video on social media on May 6 addressing the ongoing issue.

In the video, Bortmans stated, “I received word from the U.S. that the issue is being resolved. Someone will go to Korea to retrieve the items.”

However, he maintained his criticism regarding the lack of communication, saying, “We invested a lot of time. Not receiving any response and feeling disrespected for six months was terrible.”

Bortmans also defended his decision to mention Jisoo by name, explaining that he believed the team needed to handle people more responsibly when problems arise. He added that without publicly mentioning her name, they likely would not have received any response regarding the missing items.

After receiving criticism for saying “Jisoo stole my belongings” despite acknowledging that she was not directly involved, the designer clarified, “I never attacked Jisoo. I only used her name to get a response because her name appeared in emails related to the shoot.”

He further asked for understanding, saying that his emotional state at the time caused him to speak too harshly.

The controversy began after Bortmans claimed that numerous fashion pieces sent six months earlier for an album cover project involving Jisoo and her Korean team had not been returned. He previously expressed frustration over repeated delays and lack of replies regarding the whereabouts of the items.

Meanwhile, fans of Jisoo argued that the items had reportedly been borrowed by a magazine rather than by Jisoo herself, criticizing the designer for uploading videos that appeared to place direct blame on the artist.
