Korean-inspired merchandise gains popularity as K-culture influence expands
by Alec06 · allkpopKorean-themed merchandise is gaining traction among both domestic and international consumers as brands increasingly incorporate traditional Korean culture into popular character IPs.
One recent example is IPX's 'ZO&FRIENDS K-Edition' collection. The line reimagines ZOA, a character created with G-Dragon's participation, in traditional Korean attire inspired by scholars and noblewomen. The collection also incorporates palace and traditional village motifs into its concept.
The products have received positive responses online, with many consumers praising the blend of cute character designs and Korean cultural elements. A giant ZOA balloon dressed in traditional clothing at the National Folk Museum of Korea has also attracted attention from visitors.
The trend extends beyond ZO&FRIENDS. BTS-related character brand BT21 has found success with traditional Korean-themed merchandise, while the National Museum of Korea's popular "MU" products have repeatedly sold out.
Industry observers attribute the growing demand to the continued global rise of K-culture, as interest in Korean music, dramas, and entertainment increasingly expands into merchandise and collectible products.
