Concerns grow over Lee Kyung Kyu’s health after recent video appearance

Concerns over the health of broadcaster Lee Kyung Kyu are continuing to grow following his recent appearance in a YouTube video.

On May 7 KST, a video titled “Half the Nation Has Diabetes? Lee Kyung Kyu, Who Underwent Surgery Due to Diabetes Complications, Investigates the Truth About Blood Sugar” was uploaded to his channel.

The episode featured Dr. Lee Hye Min, who operates the channel “Diabetes School” and has published books related to diabetes management. During the discussion, the doctor warned that nearly half of Korea’s population could be at risk of diabetes, raising awareness about the seriousness of the disease.

Despite the informative nature of the content, much of the audience’s attention shifted toward Lee Kyung Kyu’s condition rather than the topic itself.

Many viewers commented that his pronunciation seemed noticeably different compared to before, with reactions including, “His speech sounds slurred,” “His face looks different,” and “He appears uncomfortable.” Some viewers even compared the video with content uploaded just a week earlier, saying the change appeared significant in a short period of time.

Lee Kyung Kyu also openly discussed the challenges of managing his health during the video. He revealed that after being diagnosed with prediabetes, the number of foods he could eat became severely limited and that every meal had turned into a source of stress.

Speculation regarding his health is not new. During an appearance on the YouTube channel YouTube show “Slow Aging with Jung Hee Won” last year, Lee confessed that he used to drink heavily enough to experience blackouts twice a week.

He further revealed that he later suffered a myocardial infarction, saying, “The doctor asked me how I even survived and called it a miracle.” Since then, he explained, he has continued taking medication regularly.

In 2024, Lee also appeared on 'You Quiz on the Block', where he shared that he underwent an MRI scan after hearing that creases in the earlobe could be a warning sign of brain hemorrhage or heart attack. Fortunately, the results showed no abnormalities, and he reassured fans at the time by saying there was no need to worry.
