'The Scandal' is a drama adaptation of the 2003 film 'Untold Scandal,' which starred Bae Yong-joon and Jeon Do-yeon and drew more than 3.5 million viewers. The film, based on the novel 'Dangerous Liaisons,' was known for its bold portrayal of seduction and betrayal among Joseon nobility.
Set in an era when desire was forbidden, the series follows Lady Jo, played by Son Ye-jin, a sharp-minded woman constrained by the times, and Jo Won, played by Ji Chang-wook, a notorious playboy. Nana plays Hee-yeon, a widow drawn into their secret wager.
The series is directed by Jung Ji Woo and written by Ahn Hye Song, with production overseen by MOVIEROCK.
Ahead of the premiere, Son Ye-jin is set to appear on JTBC’s variety program 'Please Take Care of My Refrigerator' as part of the show’s promotions.
