The Boyz 9 members win injunction against One Hundred Label, court recognises valid termination of exclusive contracts

The Boyz won a legal victory in their dispute with One Hundred Label after the court accepted their injunction request to suspend the effectiveness of their exclusive contracts.

On April 23, the group’s legal representative, law firm Yulchon, stated in an official announcement that the court had ruled in favour of the injunction filed by the nine members Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, Q, Sunwoo, and Eric. Accordingly, the court confirmed that their exclusive contracts with One Hundred Label had been lawfully terminated and their effect had come to an end.

Attorney Kim Moon Hee of Yulchon explained that the court found One Hundred Label had violated its obligations by failing to pay settlement amounts, failing to provide settlement-related accounting materials required for verification, and failing to fulfil essential contractual duties such as management support and artist protection. Considering these factors, the court acknowledged that the trust relationship between the parties had irreparably broken down due to reasons attributable to the agency.

Kim further noted that One Hundred Label had argued in media statements and during the proceedings that the contract signing fee functioned as an “advance payment,” but the court explicitly rejected this claim. The court clarified that signing fees and settlement payments derived from revenue are separate contractual provisions, and there was no agreement allowing previously paid signing fees to substitute for settlement payments owed to the artists.

The court also confirmed that signing fees were separate compensation paid at the time of entering the contract as consideration for entertainment activities, and are clearly distinct from settlement earnings. Yulchon emphasised that One Hundred Label’s attempt to reinterpret the nature and scale of the signing fees contradicts its own previous position and effectively denies its earlier decisions.

Despite the ongoing dispute, the members will continue to fulfil their scheduled commitments for fans. The Boyz are set to proceed with their concerts at KSPO DOME in Seoul from April 24 to 26 as planned.

Attorney Kim added that the legal resolution of the injunction dispute is being accepted with seriousness and gratitude, and stated that the group will continue activities while staying close to fans and asking for continued support.

The Boyz, who debuted in December 2017, moved to One Hundred Label in December 2024. However, excluding member New, the remaining members notified the agency in February 2025 of contract termination and subsequently filed for an injunction. They claim that they have not received settlement payments since July 2025 and that their requests to access settlement records were denied.

In contrast, One Hundred Label stated that it had paid contract signing fees exceeding industry standards to all members. However, The Boyz’s side disputes this, claiming that no settlement payments, including those for the third and fourth quarters of 2025, have been made.
