Korean lyrics resonated throughout the opening ceremony of the '2026 FIFA World Cup' in North America as singer-songwriter Ejae performed the tournament's official theme song before a global audience.

On June 12 (KST), Ejae took the stage at the World Cup opening ceremony held in Mexico City, Mexico, delivering a special performance that highlighted Korea's growing presence on the international music scene.

The artist joined internationally acclaimed tenor Andrea Bocelli for a duet performance of the official World Cup anthem, "DNA." Wearing a blue halter-neck gown, Ejae captivated spectators with a powerful rendition of the song.

The performance held particular significance as Ejae also participated in the song's creation. Contributing as a songwriter, she incorporated Korean-language lyrics into the track, including the uplifting line, "Even if I fall again, I will rise once more." The addition brought a distinctive Korean element to one of the world's most-watched sporting events.

K-pop artists are expected to play a prominent role throughout the tournament. Alongside Ejae's appearance, BLACKPINK's Lisa is scheduled to perform at the opening event in the United States, while BTS is set to participate in the halftime show of the World Cup final.

Ejae recently gained international recognition through Netflix's animated feature 'KPop Demon Hunters.' She co-wrote and performed several songs for the film's soundtrack, including the widely acclaimed track "Golden," further solidifying her reputation as a rising global artist and songwriter.
