ITZY’s Chaeryeong says she’s been managing her image since elementary school
by Minsoo-Kim · allkpopChaeryeong revealed that she has been consciously managing her public image since elementary school.
The ITZY member appeared on a recent episode of YouTube host Hyeri’s channel, where the two stars shared an honest conversation about acting, emotions, and life in the entertainment industry.
When asked whether she had any interest in acting, Chaeryeong revealed that she is currently taking acting lessons and hopes to pursue acting opportunities in the future.
“I’m preparing for it now, and the lessons are really fun,” she said. “I’m actually quite emotional, but I’m not good at expressing those feelings. I’ve never really yelled at someone or raised my voice.”
She explained that one of the challenges she faces in acting is portraying intense emotions. “Sometimes I have to scream during a scene, but I find it difficult,” she admitted.
The conversation then shifted to how she handles anger in everyday life. Chaeryeong joked that instead of expressing frustration outwardly, she quietly vents to herself internally while maintaining a calm expression.
“I think things like, ‘They have no idea what I’m thinking right now,’” she said with a laugh. “If I keep a poker face, I end up not feeling as angry.”
When Hyeri joked that she had failed at image management because her emotions are always visible on her face, Chaeryeong playfully replied, “I’ve been managing my image since elementary school.”
She went on to explain that she first gained public attention while appearing on the audition program K-pop Star as a sixth-grade student.
“People started recognizing me back then,” she recalled. “That made me more careful about what I said and how I behaved.”
Chaeryeong added with a smile that if she were to give advice to aspiring idols, it would be to start paying attention to their public image early, even during their school years.
