Ji Chang Wook under tax investigation amid reports of hefty tax bill
by Alec06 · allkpopActor Ji Chang Wook has reportedly undergone a special tax audit by South Korea’s National Tax Service and was assessed additional taxes amounting to tens of billions of won.
According to local media reports on June 2, the Investigation Bureau 2 of the Seoul Regional Tax Office conducted a non-routine tax audit of the actor in March. During the review of tax filings and expense processing, authorities reportedly identified issues that led to the reassessment. The exact amount of the additional taxes has not been disclosed.
Ji Chang Wook’s representatives have not yet released an official statement regarding the reports.
The case has drawn attention because it was reportedly a special tax audit rather than a regular periodic review. Similar cases have recently surfaced in the entertainment industry, including actor Lee Min Ki, whose agency previously stated that additional taxes resulted from differences in the interpretation of tax regulations rather than intentional tax evasion.
Meanwhile, Ji Chang Wook is currently appearing in director Yeon Sang Ho’s film Colony.
