Shane Gillis Called Women at the Gym “Whores” in His SNL Monologue

Shane Gillis used his 3rd Saturday Night Live hosting monologue on Saturday to complain about women’s gym clothes: “Also, I haven’t been to the gym in so long I didn’t know women just dress like wh*res now?”
He continued: “Look, I’m sorry, there’s no other way to describe [it]. Have you seen it? I’ve seen it.” Gillis described neon shorts with seams running around the wearer’s butt, then joked that women were recording their workouts and he’d ended up in the background of their TikToks.
The gym material began with Gillis talking about trying to lose weight and feeling intimidated by muscular gay men at New York gyms. Elsewhere in the monologue, he called his sisters “two big, fat-b*tch sisters” and compared his receding hairline to Adolf Hitler’s, ending that bit with: “You’re either gay or you’re Hitler, and isn’t that where we’re at as a country?”
Gillis, 38, was hired for SNL in September 2019 alongside Chloe Fineman and Bowen Yang. He was fired 5 days later after podcast clips resurfaced in which he mocked Asian people and used anti-gay slurs. Yang was the show’s first cast member of full Asian descent.
Lorne Michaels later said NBC executives pushed for Gillis’s firing against his wishes. Gillis went on to create and star in Netflix’s Tires and returned to host SNL in 2024.
Michaels also offered him the Donald Trump role for the show’s 50th season, which Gillis turned down.
