A well-funded conservative operation spent months building dossiers to keep a liberal off the papal throne. They found almost nothing on Robert Prevost: no books, one canon law dissertation, and a man who rarely spoke on the hard questions.

His public X account, full of the answers they wanted, sat there the whole time.
