They exchanged private vows in front of a tiny group of loved ones before the arena-sized celebration. The Friday event at MSG is the party. The wedding already happened. So goes the rumor, that actually seems very logical.
“They are already married,” a source close to the couple told Page Six, which reported that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce exchanged private vows in front of a tiny group of loved ones before their public celebration.
The Madison Square Garden extravaganza on Friday isn’t the real “I do.” That already happened, in a room small enough that no one outside their circle even knew it was over. The MSG event is the party, not the ceremony: more than 1,000 guests are expected inside the arena, following a Thursday rehearsal dinner for 100. Swift reportedly flew friends and family in on her private jet to make sure everyone closest to them was there.
A city permit obtained by the Associated Press lists a Friday “main event” beginning at 5 p.m., with the option to run until 4 the next morning. Page Six compared the private ceremony to Ed Sheeran’s, so tightly held that no one has ever confirmed who attended.
The two got engaged on August 26, 2025, when Swift announced it on Instagram with the caption “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Both are 36. Their story started with a comment on the “New Heights” podcast and turned into Swift becoming a near-permanent fixture at Arrowhead Stadium, and now, one of the most-watched weddings of the year.
