Beyoncé turned 45 on Friday, Sept. 4, and her mother marked the day by posting a hospital photo from the moment she was born, the two of them locking eyes for the first time.
Tina Knowles, 72, wrote that Beyoncé took nine hours to arrive and that she looked exhausted in the picture but “the happiest I’ve ever been in my life up to this point on this day.” She described the bond between them as one that “has never been broken and it never will.”
The line about the noise pointed to how Beyoncé has handled years of outside commentary. Tina praised her for “creating, loving, lifting up others, constantly making history,” and for “minding your own damn business, and living your life to the fullest.”
Of everything, she wrote, the thing she loves most is her daughter’s “huge heart,” calling her “an extraordinary human being first.”
The birthday also lands on the 20th anniversary of Beyoncé’s album B’Day, and she released a 31-track deluxe edition to mark it, with new songs including “Creole,” “Back Up” and “Can I Watch You” featuring Pharrell Williams. Fans are still waiting on the rumored Act III, the follow-up to Renaissance and Cowboy Carter, which the Beyhive has speculated will be rock-inspired.
