Nicole Kidman Calls Herself a “Dunie” and Wants into the Dune World

Nicole Kidman told Vogue she’d love to be in a Dune sequel, then said the opposite in the same breath. “I actually don’t want to be in it because I just want to be able to watch them,” she said.
Kidman’s full pitch, from Vogue’s Off the Cuff with Sandra Bullock: “I’d love to be in the Dune sequel. I’m a Dunie, I love Dune. I’m obsessed.”
Bullock asked why she wasn’t in it. “Because Dune never asked me to be in anything. It’s devastating,” Kidman said, before admitting she’d rather stay in the audience seat.

This isn’t a new crush. Back in December 2024, on Variety’s Actors on Actors with Zendaya, Kidman already called herself a Dunie, describing how she paid to see “Dune: Part Two” at midnight in London while badly jet-lagged: “I was riveted.”
The timing makes it an awkward ask. Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Three” is already shot and dated for December 18, 2026, with returning names including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Rebecca Ferguson. Villeneuve has said it’s his last Dune film.
Kidman said the Vogue line while promoting “Practical Magic 2,” in theaters September 11. Then came the sand joke. Bullock: “You wouldn’t like the sand.” Kidman: “I like the sand.” “In your face?” “No.”
