Anne Hathaway was asked what she learned working with Dakota Johnson on the new Colleen Hoover movie Verity, and she turned it into a full fan letter, calling herself the puppy to Johnson’s cat.
Talking to Brut. on September 30, Hathaway said she wants to be Johnson “so bad,” listing her as brilliant, cool, effortless, fascinating, hilarious and sexy. She landed on an image for the dynamic: “I think that she has like really amazing powerful feline energy. And like I said, I’m just like a very eager to please puppy.”
Hathaway said the two of them had settled on a shorthand for their bond: “We decided that ours is a Pixar kind of love.” She added, “It’s really remarkable how real she is, especially given, you know, the fact that her life contains so many fabulous things and so much glamour and so many unusual things.”

Johnson plays struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh, hired to finish the books of Hathaway’s bestselling author Verity Crawford. Michael Showalter directed the adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s psychological erotic thriller, which Hathaway also produced and Johnson executive produced.
