“Good morning from Manila,” said Mr. Nakamura via social media after flying to the country early on Sunday.
“Through chess, I’ve been able to travel around the world, and this is now the 63rd unique country I’ve been to,” he added.
Mr. Nakamura will pair with German Wadim Rosenstein, founder of the organizing WR Chess that coughed up a total cash pot worth $100,000, or a whopping P6.1 million. — Joey Villar
