Among the items provided to the school are compound microscopes, test tubes, beakers, conical and volumetric flasks, measuring instruments, electrical equipment, dissecting kits, specimen trays and laboratory safety materials.

The intervention followed a needs assessment conducted by Dufil Prima Foods to identify specific gaps within the school and determine the resources required to support teaching and learning.

For the school, the donation addresses a practical need.

Upon receiving the equipment, the Principal and Director of Ikeja Senior Grammar School, Mrs Ajibola Johnson, expressed appreciation for the intervention.

“When we were told that Indomie was bringing science equipment to our school, we were very happy because many of the items were things we actually needed but did not have,” she said.

Johnson explained that the new resources will support students during practical lessons and give them opportunities to apply concepts learnt in the classroom.

Practical learning remains an important part of science education, as students gain a stronger understanding of scientific concepts through observation, experimentation and hands-on activities.

For Dufil Prima Foods, the intervention reflects a broader approach to supporting communities through initiatives based on identified needs.

Temitope Ashiwaju, Group Corporate Communications and Events Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Limited, said the company seeks to understand the needs of communities and institutions before providing support.

“Giving back to the society in which we operate is an important part of our corporate responsibility,” Ashiwaju said. “We do not want to simply give out items; we want to understand what communities and institutions actually need and meet them at that point of need.”

He noted that education remains one of the company’s key areas of social investment, alongside healthcare and community development.

For the students of Ikeja Senior Grammar School, the value of the donation extends beyond the laboratory itself.

With new equipment available for Chemistry, Physics and Biology practicals, students will have more opportunities to observe scientific processes, conduct experiments and connect classroom lessons with practical applications.

The intervention provides the school with resources to support science learning while reflecting Dufil Prima Foods’ approach of directing CSR support towards specific needs within beneficiary communities.
