With the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime having reached its finale earlier this week, the franchise is preparing to enter a new chapter through Bleach Mirrors High, Bandai Namco Entertainment’s upcoming mobile action game.
The publisher has unveiled a specially produced opening animation by Studio Pierrot, the studio behind Bleach‘s TV anime adaptation. The cinematic preview brings the world of Bleach back to life through dynamic character sequences, striking visual compositions and the franchise’s signature sword-fighting aesthetic, introducing a new generation of Soul Reapers alongside familiar faces such as Ichigo Kurosaki and Rukia Kuchiki.
Accompanying the animation is the newly revealed theme song “CRITICAL” by Japanese artist suisoh, featuring an energetic fusion of rock instrumentation and electronic elements. The track was co-arranged with Takahiro Yamada of ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, whose band previously contributed the opening theme “After Dark” to the original BLEACH anime.
Set after the events of the Thousand-Year Blood War, the game introduces an original storyline developed in close collaboration with series creator Tite Kubo, who has also designed a new cast of Soul Reapers specifically for the game. Instead of following an established protagonist, players assume the role of a newly awakened soul in Karakura Town, with extensive customization options allowing them to personalize their character’s appearance and Zanpakuto.
Gameplay combines fast-paced action with strategic, card-based combat, allowing players to assemble three-character squads and execute coordinated attacks through the game’s “Soul Drive” system. Alongside returning favorites including Byakuya Kuchiki, Toshiro Hitsugaya and Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez, the game will introduce original characters such as Shirin Migishima and Shirane Sanari. Bleach Mirrors High launches today as a free-to-play title for iOS and Android devices.
