Jhené Aiko‘s Westside Whimsy debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, handing the singer-songwriter the first chart-topping album of her career. The set arrives on the September 26-dated chart with 74,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the tracking week ending September 17, according to Luminate.

Streaming carried the debut almost single-handedly. Of that 74,000 total, streaming equivalent albums accounted for 70,000, a figure powered by 71.33 million on-demand official streams that also sent the project to No. 1 on Top Streaming Albums. Pure sales told a quieter story: with the album available only as a digital purchase ahead of physical editions slated for January, it moved 3,500 copies to open at No. 25 on Top Album Sales, while track-equivalent albums added another 500 units.

The milestone lands more than a decade in the making. Westside Whimsy is Aiko’s first full-length studio album since 2020’s Chilombo, which debuted and peaked at No. 2 before earning an album of the year nomination at the Grammys. Her latest becomes her sixth top 10 on the Billboard 200, a run that traces back to Sail Out, the 2013 entry that first reached No. 8. The gap between that debut and this leader spanned 12 years and 10 months, making Aiko the second act of 2026 to wait at least a decade for a first No. 1, after Megadeth closed a nearly 40-year gap earlier this year. Among women, the last to wait longer was Solange, whose A Seat at the Table topped the chart 13 years and eight months after her own chart debut.

The No. 1 also reshapes the year’s R&B picture. Westside Whimsy is the genre’s first chart-topper from a woman in 2026 and the first R&B album to lead since SZA‘s SOS logged its 13th and final week on top in May 2025. The only other R&B set to reach the summit this year was Bruno Mars‘ The Romantic.

Behind Aiko, the rest of the top 10 stayed still, with her album the only new arrival in the region. Ella Langley‘s Dandelion slips to No. 2 on a little over 60,000 units, trailed by Olivia Rodrigo‘s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love at No. 3 (60,000) and Morgan Wallen‘s I’m the Problem at No. 4 (57,000). Noah Kahan‘s The Great Divide holds at No. 5 (46,000), while Drake‘s ICEMAN climbs 9-6 (35,000). Ariana Grande‘s petal eases to No. 7 (34,000), Rod Wave’s Don’t Look Down dips 7-8 (nearly 34,000), Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving rises 10-9 (33,000) and Kahan’s Stick Season rounds out the tier, moving 13-10 (nearly 33,000).
