Coach Miguel Cardoso was not shy to ring the changes with one eye on the weekend's CAF Super Cup encounter, goalkeeper Ricardo Goss and Bathusi Aubaas were the only players to keep their spots in the starting line-up after Saturday's big win over Durban City.

Despite the flurry of changes, the Brazilians continued to dominate and play their usual style of football, which nearly resulted in the opening goal after 14 minutes when Siyanda Ndlovu weaved past one defender before unleashing a strike that crash against the crossbar.

The previous three encounters between the two sides this season were a lot more open, although the Brazilians have shored things up defensively as they did well to thwart the threat of Junior Dion, who had scored in both legs of the MTN8 semi-finals.

At the other end, Sundowns were finding it tough to carve out any clear-cut chances in the box until the final five minutes when Iqraam Rayners turned provider and did well to pick out Antonio van Wyk, who steered his header wide of the mark with only Dumisani Msibi to beat.
