JBL has long been a go-to brand for the best Bluetooth speakers, and one of the brand’s most popular and rugged outdoor speakers is nearly $50 off. The JBL Flip 7, which normally costs $150, is discounted to $100. The deal applies to most of the available colors, including on various retailers like Amazon and JBL.

JBL’s speakers have long been known for their durability — there was even a viral video of a speaker that apparently washed ashore after months in the ocean and continued working. Like all viral videos, it’s worth taking with more than a grain of salt. But in our testing, JBL’s speakers live up to their reputation for durability, capably handling water, sand, and the occasional drop onto a hardwood floor.

The Flip 7 features an IP68 rating, making it water and dustproof. The Flip 7 can also be clipped to a bag and easily carried, thanks to the included interchangeable hanging loop and carabiner.

Most importantly, JBL’s Flip 7 packs a punch for its size. There are two passive bass radiators at each end, allowing the speaker to deliver sufficient bass thump (when upright, the speaker leans slightly to prevent distortion from the bass radiator).

JBL’s app also lets you customize the EQ, and you can pair two JBL speakers using Auracast for stereo or mono sound. The speaker can get plenty loud for its size, too, although it starts to sound harsh at very high volumes. Ultimately, if you’re looking for a rugged Bluetooth speaker for travel, around-the-house, and — eventually — beach days, the Flip 7 is a top-tier option.
