Blackpink’s Lisa Will Star in Netflix’s ‘Extraction’ Universe Thriller ‘Tygo’
· Rolling StoneLisa is going to be back on screen very soon. On Thursday, Netflix announced that it will release the action-thriller film and Extraction spin-off Tygo, starring Blackpink‘s Lisa, Korean actor Don Lee, and Squid Game‘s Lee Jin-uk.
“I’m so honored to be a part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible actors,” Lisa said in a statement. “Being in an action film has always been a dream of mine, and for my first movie role to be in such an exciting action film is a dream come true.”
The Lee Sang-yong-directed film will follow Tygo, a former child soldier, as he gets revenge on Korea’s underworld after a mission goes wrong.
“We’re thrilled to explore the world of Extraction through a South Korean lens, teaming up with legendary action star Don Lee and visionary director Lee Sang-yong, whose dynamic choreography exemplifies the world-class craft of Korean cinema,” said Angela Russo-Otstot, producer and chief creative officer of AGBO, in a statement.
The Extraction films are based on a graphic novel made by Anthony and Joe Russo with Ande Parks, called Ciudad. The new Extraction series stars Omar Sy, Boyd Holbrook, and Natalie Dormer. Tygo will follow 2020’s Extraction and 2023’s Extraction 2 — both successful Netflix projects, garnering 90 million households watching the first movie in its first month.
