See Foo Fighters Return to ‘Baker Street’ on ‘Kimmel’

· Rolling Stone

Foo Fighters revisited their cover of Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street” for the final performance of their Jimmy Kimmel Live residency.

The band originally released their rendition of the Rafferty classic in 1998, when it served as a B-side on the “My Hero” U.K. single; their “Baker Street” became a minor radio hit of its own in certain markets.

Foo Fighters occasionally played the song live in the next decade following its release, including its last performance in November 2007. However, Dave Grohl and the band stunningly revived the “Baker Street” cover from its nearly 20-year dormancy earlier this month during their set at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music’s 25th anniversary benefit show.

“Now this is something we definitely haven’t done in 20 fucking years,” Grohl told the crowd that night. “This is one of my fucking favorite songs of all time, I fucking have so many amazing childhood memories of this song.”

While only the Hollywood Palladium crowd witnessed Foo Fighters return to “Baker Street,” the band let the public viewing audience share the moment as well to close out their week on Kimmel, which also included performances of “Window” and their first-ever single “This Is a Call.”
